Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association expresses deep sorrow at the passing away of former Pakistan Test cricketer Mr. Wazir Mohammad, who passed away on Monday at the age of 95.

Wazir Mohammad, the oldest living Pakistani Test cricketer and the third oldest in the world, represented Pakistan in 20 Test matches between 1952 and 1959. A distinguished member of the famous Mohammad cricketing family, he was admired both for his cricketing prowess and his gentle demeanour.

PVCA Chairman Mr. Fawad Ijaz Khan, who personally knew Wazir Mohammad, paid tribute, saying:

“Wazir Mohammad was a very soft-spoken and humble individual. His contribution to Pakistan cricket and his family’s legacy will always be remembered with great respect.”

Cricket runs deep in the Mohammad family. Wazir’s brother Sadiq Mohammad played Over-60s veterans cricket, while another brother, Mushtaq Mohammad, served as Pakistan Seniors’ coach during India Seniors’ tour of Pakistan in 2006. Their nephew, Shoaib Mohammad—son of the legendary Hanif Mohammad—played for Pakistan Seniors during tour to India in 2005.

The PVCA extends heartfelt condolences to the Mohammad family and prays that the departed soul rests in eternal peace.
