Karachi — Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association has officially announced the Pakistan squad for the upcoming IMC Over-60s Cricket World Cup 2026, scheduled to be held in Mississauga, Canada from 9th August to 23rd August 2026. A total of 14 teams will participate in the international tournament. Teams featuring in this World Cup are: Pakistan, Australia, India, South Africa, England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, West Indies, USA, Zimbabwe, Canada, Wales, Scotland and Rest of the World.
Fawad Ijaz Khan, Chairman PVCA, will lead the Pakistan Over-60s side, with Syed Mazhar Hussain named Vice Captain of the team. A notable inclusion in the squad is Sajid Ali, a former Pakistan international player who represented the national side in 13 One Day Internationals.
Pakistan enters the competition with a strong legacy at the Over-60s level, having won the IMC Over-60s World Cup in 2022 under the captaincy of Fawad Ijaz Khan after defeating Australia in the Semi-Final and New Zealand in the Final of the tournament held in Brisbane, Australia. Five members of that historic World Cup winning side — Fawad Ijaz Khan, Syed Saghir Abbas, Muhammad Younus, Muhammad Ashraf Pakhali and Tahir Rashid — return for the 2026 edition as players, bringing valuable experience to the camp.
It is worth noting that Pakistan was unable to defend its title at the Over-60s World Cup 2024 held in Chennai India, as non-issuance of visas by Indian Government prevented the team from participating in the competition. In the upcoming Over-60s World Cup 2026, Pakistan aims to reclaim its place at the pinnacle of Over-60s cricket on the global stage.
