Pakistan Panthers Veterans Team Left For South Africa

A 13 member Pakistan Panthers Veterans Team left for South Africa yesterday to play four 30 over matches against different South African Cricket Teams.
The Western Province Cricket Association of South Africa has invited Pakistan Panthers Cricket Team to play against Teams in Hermanus on 18th November and George on 20th November, Oudshoorn on 22nd November and Capetown on 24th November. The Mayor of Hermanus will be the Chief Guest on the opening match.
This is the second tour of Pakistan Panthers Veterans Team to South Africa.
The Team is as follows:
Ashiq Hussain Qureshi (Captain), Shakil Ahmed,Salim Elahi,Muhd Hafeez,Bilal Khilji, Zia uddin Amer I Butt,Syed Asim Jah,Kamil Khan,Dr. Kamal Ghani,Hamad Maqbool,Salman Khan,Zubair Butt,Qaiser Khichi,Saleem Elahi and Shakil Ahmed have played for Pakistan.

 

Saleem Elahi stars in Pakistan Panthers Veterans victory in South Africa – 24th Nov 2016

KARACHI: Opener Saleem Elahi’s brilliant knock of 86 guided Pakistan Panthers Veterans to four-wicket victory over Hermanus Veterans at in the second match of their tour of South Africa.
The Pakistanis dominated the game held at Hermanus, a town on the southern coast of the Western Cape. They had earlier tied the opening match of the tour against George Veterans. They will be playing a couple of more matches against various South African senior outfits.
Saleem Elahi, who represented Pakistan in 13 Tests and 48 One-day Internationals from 1995 to 2004, turned out to be the star of the second game as he played a counter-attacking innings for Pakistan Panthers Veterans, enabling them to successfully chase down the target of 186 off 30 overs.
He kept the scoreboard moving by striking a dozen powerful boundaries although wickets fell regularly at the other end. It was his second half century in as many games.
After his dismissal, Bilal Khilji contributed a sedate 20 while Mohammad Hafeez played aggressively for his unbeaten 25, which included one six and three fours, taking the visiting side home in the final over with four wickets in hand. Kamal Ghani was the other not out batsman with 13.
Batting first, Hermanus Veterans 185 for eight in the allotted 30 overs with opener Cano Hamerberg leading the way with 67 and number three Stephen playing a cameo of 55 which contained four sixes and three fours.
Pakistan Panthers Veterans pulled it back through Syed Asim Jah, who took three wickets, while Malal and Tashwin picked up a couple of each to prevent onslaught in the slog overs.
The 13-member Pakistan Panthers Veterans squad, captained by Ashiq Hussain Qureshi, has proceeded to South Africa, on the invitation Western Province Cricket Association, to play four 30-over matches against different teams.

 

Bilal Khilji’s century powers Pakistan Panthers Veterans in South Africa – 26th Nov 2016

KARACHI: Bilal Khilji’s hard-hitting century powered Pakistan Panthers Veterans to a comprehensive 189-run over South Western Districts (SWD) Veterans at the Recreation Ground in the third match of their tour of South Africa.
The Pakistanis, led by Ashiq Hussain Qureshi, extended their unbeaten run, having triumphed in the second game against Hermanus Veterans after having tied the first one with George Veterans. They will be taking on Western Cape Veterans in the fourth and final match.
Batting first, after winning the toss, Pakistan Panthers Veterans scored a mammoth 272 for seven in the allotted 30 overs with Bilal Khilji striking two sixes and 16 fours in his whirlwind 101 off 53 balls.
Kamal Ghani smashed one six and four fours in his 50 off 39 balls as did Mohammad Hafeez in his knock of 44 off 29 balls. Douglas Bootman took a couple of wickets for SWD Veterans, dismissing both the openers, Saleem Elahi and Hammad Maqbool, in his first spell.
Chasing a formidable target of 273 in 30 overs, SWD Veterans succumbed to the scoreboard pressure and the fine bowling by the visitors didn’t allow any of their batsmen to settle down.
The highest partnership of their innings came for the last wicket as Douglas Bootman, who remained undefeated on 35 off 20 balls, added 37 with lastman Glensed Kiezer to take the total to 93 after they had slumped to 56 for nine.
Mohammad Hafeez was the pick of the Pakistani bowlers, capturing four wickets for only six runs in his four-over spell. Earlier the damage was done by the duo of Kamil Khan (2-9) and Kamal Ghani (2-18), who operated with the new ball.
