Grand Lunch Ceremony marks the end of the World Cup
Victorious Pakistan Over 60s team entered the arena receiving a standing ovation with National Anthem running emphatically in the background.
The closing lunch ceremony began with a brief introduction of the organizing committee. A summary of the efforts that Queensland Veterans Cricket Inc. in general and their president Rod Rice, in particular, put forth to make the event successful were presented. Former test player Mike Procter shared his thoughts afterwards. An auction was carried out in which signed bats, balls and pictures of former legendary cricketers were put across.
The Pakistan Over 60s team were presented with medals on this auspicious occasion. Moreover, Syed Muhammad Ghaffar Kazmi was given the ‘Best Batsman of the tournament’ award as he assembled the most runs in the tournament, 277 to be precise.
Then, the moment for which all the hard toils were exhibited, Captain of the Pakistan Over 60s team, Mr. Fawad Ijaz Khan was presented with the winning shield. Sharing his thoughts on the occasion Mr. Fawad said:” A happy day for me, in fact a dream come true moment”. He further added:” Our players were charged up and they really worked hard”. Moreover, He dedicated the victory to the former Chief executive of Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association, the late Ashiq Hussain Qureshi.
