Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association expressed its grief on the demise of Mr. Javed Zaman Khan in Lahore at the age of 86 years. Mr. Javed Zaman Khan was the head of PVCA Northern Zone for the first two years since its inception in 1998. He was part of the Lahore Veterans Blues team led by Mr. Majid Khan that visited Karachi during the first National Seniors Cup held in 1998. Born on 7th January 1938, he continued serving the game and actively participated in cricket activities till reaching 80 years of age.
Mr. Fawad Ijaz Khan, Chairman PVCA, condoled his death with his son Mr. Babar Zaman who is also an active veteran cricket player.
Mr. Javed Zaman Khan is the maternal uncle and cricket mentor of Mr. Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan and World Cup winning captain in 1992. Mr. Javed Zaman was a former first-class cricket player having represented Lahore Greens and Lahore A Teams. Mr. Javed Zaman Khan was also associated with Pakistan Cricket Board in different capacities.
Mr. Javed Zaman was very well regarded not only for his contributions to the game of cricket but was also a prominent figure in the community due to his kind-hearted nature.
