Pakistan’s Clash against UAE in Over 50s World Cup Washed Out

The third Round Match of Pakistan in the Over 50s World Cup against UAE got washed out as downpour played the spoilsport in Durbanville Cricket Club, Cape Town South Africa.

Persistent Rain forced a five-hour delayed start to the match and the contest was reduced to 24 overs per inning. The tournament debutant United Arab Emirates after winning the toss invited Pakistan Over 50s team to bat first. Pakistan openers started the inning in a blistering way but Asif Hamayun fell early in the process. Pakistan was 110-4 at the 17.5 over mark before rain restruck the venue forcing the match to be abandoned with 1 point awarded to both teams.

Pakistan Over 50s team has thus far played three matches in the tournament. They won their opening contest against Wales by 5 Wickets. Whereas, South Africa defeated them in their second match of the tournament before this third game against UAE which got washed out. Pakistan will be locking horns against England on 12th March followed by the all-important clash against India on 13th March 2023.

In other Round 3 matches of Over 50s World Cup, From Pool A: Australia faced its third defeat on the trot as New Zealand defeated them by two wickets. West Indies won their match against Sri Lanka by six wickets. USA beat Canada by four wickets.

In Pool B: India outclassed Wales by nine wickets. Whereas, South Africa defeated Namibia by ten wickets.
