Karachi: The Group stage of 23rd National Seniors Cup has come to a conclusion in the Southern Region with Haseen Habib, Total Energy topping the chart from Group A. Whereas, Factdate Engineering and Omar Associates qualify from Group B.
In the 16th match of the tournament, Balochistan Veterans came across Omar Associates. Balochistan after opting to bat first assembled 149-9 in their allotted 20 overs. Haris Ayaz, Iqbal Sheikh & Jaffer Qureshi picked two wickets each. In reply, Omar Associates lingered onto 148-3 and lost the contest by a bare 1 run margin. Shah Jahan was awarded Player of the match. In the next game, Denim Craft defeated Balochistan Veterans by 8 wickets. Balochistan after batting first put on 192-3 as Aurangzaib & Sana Ullah scored fifties. Denim Craft smoothly overran the required total as Agha Sabir Ali played a superb knock of 105 runs which included 12 fours & 4 sixes and was declared Player of the Match.
In the 18th clash, Total Energy collided with Umer Enterprises. Total Energy scored 184-6 in their inning while batting first. Syed Mohtashim Ali chipped in with a quality knock of 59 runs which included 5 fours and a couple of maximums. Muhammad Azeem grabbed four wickets. In their chase, Umer Enterprises managed 152-6, thus losing the battle by 32 runs. Jasim Baloch picked three wickets and was nominated as Player of the Match.
The 19th match of the tournament saw a high-scoring contest between Seals Veterans and Total Energy. Seals Veterans assembled 203-6 as Khurram Sarwar played a quickfire knock of 79 runs consisting of four 4’s and 8 sixes. Syed Mohtashim Ali took 4 wickets. Syed Mohtashim Ali continued on with his magnificent display in the batting domain and played an inning of 62 runs, guiding Total Energy to a five-wicket win and was declared as Player of the Match.
In the final group stage game, Airport Gymkhana rolled over Umer Enterprises registering a victory by 7 wickets. Umer Enterprises after batting first scored 192-5. Asif Izhar & Ali Iqbal played quality knocks of 80 and 79 respectively. Mansoor Khan grabbed 4 wickets. Faisal Mirza and Noman Ullah with their half centuries took Airport Gymkhana across the line. Faisal Mirza was awarded Player of the match for his blistering knock of 80 runs which included 12 fours and 2 sixes.
