Karachi: The 23rd National Seniors Cup is under full fledge progress across various divisions throughout the country. The competition is underway in the Southern Region as well, which composes of Nine teams from Karachi & One team from Quetta.
In the opening match of the tournament, Factdate Veterans defeated Fay Veterans by 38 runs. Factdate after being put into batting first managed to assemble 196-5 in their allotted 20 overs. Ghazanfar played an impressive knock of 70 runs. In reply, Fay Veterans could manage 158-7 in their quota of overs. Rizwan Qureshi picked 5 wickets and was awarded Player of the Match for his splendid performance.
In the second game, Haseen Habib came across Airport Gymkhana. Half-centuries from Noman Ullah & Tariq Haroon took Airport Gymkhana’s total to 175-6. Haseen Habib chased the required total in the last over on the back of a superb knock of 110 from Saeed Bin Nasir which included 15 fours and a couple of maximums. Saeed was declared Player of the Match.
In the third and fourth encounters, Denim Crafts and Haseen Habib remained victorious against Fay Veterans and Umer Enterprises respectively. Denim crafts won by six wickets after chasing out the required sum of 195 runs set by Fay Veterans. Fahim Ahmed was nominated as Player of the Match for his steady all-round performance. Whereas, in the fourth match, Haseen Habib after batting first accumulated 213-3 as Saeed Bin Nasir and Shahid Aslam chipped in with half-centuries. In reply, Umer Enterprises lingered onto 160-8 in their 20 overs giving away a victory worth 53 runs margin to Haseen Habib. Saeed Bin Nasir again grabbed the Player of the Match award.
In another match, Airport Gymkhana defeated Seals Veterans by 28 runs. Airport Gymkhana after opting to bat first scored 168-6 in their innings. Muhammad Salman remained the standout with his excellent knock of 75 runs which included seven fours and five maximums. Seals veterans in their chase got bundled out on 140 runs in the eighteenth over. Mansoor Khan, Kamran Umer, Asif Ghouri & Irfan Uddin picked two wickets each. Muhammad Salman was declared Player of the Match.
The action will continue in Southern Region till the midst of February. Afterward, Winners of different regions across the Country will battle it out against each other for the title of ‘National Winner’.
